Helping to power our farm and the national grid
Renewable Energy
Factors why we believe renewable energy is so important to our business.
Sustainability: Renewable energy sources, such as solar and wind power, are sustainable and have a lower impact on the environment compared to traditional sources like fossil fuels. By utilising renewable energy, our farm can contribute to long-term environmental sustainability.
Cost Savings: Once the initial investment is made, renewable energy systems often lead to long-term cost savings. Solar panels, wind turbines, and other renewable technologies can reduce or eliminate your dependence on external energy sources, lowering operational costs over time.
Energy Independence: Generating your own renewable energy allows your farm to become more self-sufficient and less reliant on external energy providers. This independence can provide stability in the face of fluctuating energy prices.
Environmental Impact: Using renewable energy sources helps to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and minimise the environmental impact associated with traditional energy production. This aligns with global efforts to combat climate change and promotes responsible stewardship of the land.
Long-Term Viability: As the world moves towards sustainable practices, farms that embrace renewable energy are likely to be better positioned for long-term success. It reflects an awareness of and adaptation to changing societal and market preferences.
- Self-Sufficient in Electricity 70%
Solar
We have installed solar power systems consisting of 1 unit with a capacity of 70 kW, 2 units each with a capacity of 50 kW, and 1 unit with a capacity of 30 kW. This totals to 200 kW or approximately 1,200 square meters of solar panels, equivalent to the space needed for 6 tennis courts. These solar array’s are capable of producing over 180,000 kWh of electricity per year.
Wind
We have installed a single 100 kW wind turbine, generating approximately 220,000 kWh of electricity annually. This sustainable energy source is capable of powering approximately 50 homes, contributing significantly to our commitment to renewable energy and environmental responsibility.
